Capitol Theater

A former tram depot not far from Düsseldorf main station is now a popular venue for cultural events. In the early 1990s, the multi-storey brick building on Erkrather Strasse was converted into Düsseldorf's largest theatre and began operating in 1996: the rattling of old trams gave way to thunderous applause. The “great hall” of the Capitol Theater can host over 1,250 guests. In the “club”, which is about half the size, there is space for 300 dining guests or a theatre-style rowed seating capacity of up to 500 people. But the famous building with its industrial charm does not only welcome the audience of stage shows. In addition to its in-house and external productions, the theatre - which started out as a musical theatre location – also offers its premises to companies as a unique event location.
