Feiern im WELTKUNSTZIMMER

Music and art lovers are already in the picture: Düsseldorf has a vibrant alternative scene, and has been the cradle of many non-commercial trends. Joseph Beuys, the Zero art movement, the electro-pioneers Kraftwerk or their younger colleagues from the band Kreidler, are all proof that a smooth facade was never the be-all and end-all in the Rhine metropolis. One place that mirrors the city’s many facets is the Weltkunstzimmer. The old bakery of the former Konsumgenossenschaft co-op constantly plays host to small concerts and exhibitions by young artists. The Hans Peter Zimmer Foundation which manages the property is open-minded, and also hires out the concert hall and the “Chimney Salon” for events.
