MS RheinGalaxie – new event location on the Rhine

Starting May 2020, a superlative event ship - the MS RheinGalaxie - will tour the Rhine. “We have commissioned a new, innovative multi-function ship. It is equipped with the latest event and drive technology, as well as high-quality fittings not seen before on any of KD’s other ships,” announced KD managing director Dr. Achim Schloemer. MS RheinGalaxie is the third ship for Köln-Düsseldorfer Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt, which will primarily travel in and around Düsseldorf.

In addition to its innovative design, the event liner will win people over with many well-thought-out extras such as floor-to-ceiling windows, an imposing “sky walk” over the sophisticated open deck bar and the “Star Rock” - a very special VIP observation deck. Guests will be captivated by an 85-square- metre gallery on the open deck as a dance area, as well as an artistically designed feature wall with large LED screens in the lobby.

The ship has been specially designed for events such as parties, corporate events, theatrical performances, trade fairs, conferences and gourmet tours for up to 1,000 people. It is primarily intended to strengthen the offering of KD in the Düsseldorf metropolitan area. KD managing director Dr. Achim Schloemer explained: “The market is largely saturated on the ‘route’. However, we see growth potential in the charter and event business. In this regard, KD has acquired a lot of experience over the last 20 years. We are now taking the bold step of entering the market with a pure event ship. By doing so, we will safeguard the future of our tradition-steeped company.” The newest member of the fleet is scheduled to be ready in May 2020.
