From the Modern to the Future
Social Programme ContactThose who want to find out more about the unfamiliar faces on the city’s well-known facades now have the chance to do so. The Architecture Tour takes you along Königsallee, through the Altstadt (Old Town) and ends at the Ehrenhof.
In an era when international starchitects are celebrated like pop stars, this new tour provides valuable information. Special attention is paid to architects such as Wilhelm Kreis, Daniel Libeskind, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Bernhard Pfau or Helmut Hentrich who have left their mark in Düsseldorf. In the city, within just a few square metres it is possible to contemplate outstanding examples of expressionism from the 1920s as well as brutalism. On the Königsallee, an architectural walk delights with the spectacular Kö-Bogen of New York's star architect Daniel Libeskind as well as the 96 metre tall Dreischeibenhaus and the Schauspielhaus. These selected structures are especially attractive for Instagrammers. The guides specifically point out such special backdrops. Languages: DE, EN
